Baby girl grows ‘micropenis’ after absorbing testosterone from laying on her father’s chest

A baby girl grew a “micropenis” after laying on her father’s chest in a bizarre case medics say should serve as warning to thousands of new parents.

According to Swedish medics, the case involved a baby girl who lay down on her father’s bare chest. This is an important part of newborn care called skin-to-skin contact, and which has several health benefits.

However, in this case the father was using a testosterone gel product, an artificial version of the male s£x hormone. This is a drug commonly prescribed to help men combat low energy and lagging s£x drive as they age, colloquially called the “manopause”.

By laying his daughter on his bare chest the man unknowingly exposed her to abnormally high levels of testosterone.

This led to profound changes to her genitalia, with her clitoris growing longer—looking like a small penis—and her labia closing over resembling a male scrotum.

Local media described this a “micropenis”.

The concerned parents of the girl, who was at this point 10-months old, took her to medics who quickly uncovered the source of the problem via blood tests.

Thankfully, after the man stopped accidently exposing the girl to his testosterone gel her genitalia shrank down. Professor Jovanna Dahlgren, an expert in paediatric endocrinology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, said the case, which occurred eight years ago, was part of a half-dozen similar incidents she cited in her warning. Talking to the Swedish newspaper Göteborgs-Posten,

Professor Dahlgren said she wanted to raise awareness of the dangers hormone treatments posed to children as more and more parents are taking them.

“I don’t think people always understand how potent these treatments are,” she said. “The parents become completely desperate when they understand what has happened.”

She added there had been another case where a 10-year-old boy developed breasts after being exposed to a female s£x hormone treatment his mother was taking. The warning comes amid a booming industry of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), with a number of private firms marketing the hormone to men.

Therapist Cleared to Challenge Disciplinary Ruling Over Relationship with Former Patient

A seasoned UK psychotherapist who entered a romantic relationship with a former patient shortly after therapy ended has successfully challenged disciplinary action taken against him by his professional body.Neale Haddon, a psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience, faced professional misconduct charges after the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) ruled that he had breached ethical standards. The charges stemmed from a six-month relationship he began with a woman he had treated for a driving phobia.According to reports, the former patient had shown romantic interest during therapy, even asking Haddon if he found her attractive. While Haddon initially declined her invitation for a drink after therapy ended, he agreed to meet her 10 days later. Their relationship soon became intimate, including encounters at her home and once in his car, and involved the exchange of explicit messages between December 2019 and June 2020.UKCP deemed the timing of the relationship inappropriate, stating that Haddon failed to maintain a sufficient boundary between his professional and personal life. As a result, he was found guilty of “serious misconduct” and was removed from the UKCP register.Haddon appealed the decision in the High Court, arguing that the relationship only began after the professional therapeutic relationship had formally ended and that the client had shown clear signs of recovery, particularly by overcoming her fear of driving in high-traffic conditions.Deputy Judge Rory Dunlop agreed that Haddon had not allowed enough time to pass before entering into a personal relationship, calling the 10-day gap “plainly not enough to ensure proper closure.” However, the judge also found that the disciplinary panel had shown bias in handling the case, particularly after hearing Haddon’s oral testimony.“The panel took against the claimant and failed to fairly balance their impression of him with the full body of evidence,” the judge concluded. The case will now be reviewed by a new disciplinary panel. The reassessment will determine whether Haddon’s sanction will be upheld, reduced, or overturned entirely.

Peru Clinic Fined Nearly $190,000 for Leaking Shakira’s Private Medical Record

Peru Clinic Fined Nearly $190,000 for Leaking Shakira’s Private Medical Records

A top private clinic in Peru has been fined over $188,000 for leaking the confidential medical records of global music icon Shakira.

The Colombian superstar, 48, was briefly hospitalized in February at the Delgado Auna Clinic in Lima for an undisclosed abdominal condition. Just two days later, she returned to the stage in the Peruvian capital. However, shortly after her hospital visit, details from her medical records surfaced on social media, triggering public outrage and a formal investigation.

The Delgado Clinic, located in Lima’s upscale Miraflores district and known for catering to the country’s elite, initially announced an internal investigation into what it described as a “serious ethical breach” of its code of conduct and data protection policies.

On Wednesday, Peru’s health regulatory body, Susalud, confirmed it had imposed a fine of 668,750 soles (approximately $188,355) on the clinic. The agency classified the leak as a “serious violation” of patient rights, emphasizing that every individual has a right to privacy, dignity, and the secure handling of personal health information.

This incident has reignited discussions around medical confidentiality and the responsibilities of healthcare providers in safeguarding patient data, especially in high-profile cases.
